Midsommarfest is Andersonville's annual summer street festival, now entering its 44th year. Each year, nearly 40,000 people throng Clark Street from Foster to Catalpa for two days of music, dancing, kids' entertainment, and delicious food. I'm with "shitshow". I was excited there was a "street fair" near my new home a few years ago. I had no idea it would be a beer brawl vs. drug-flowing-free-for-all.
It was toned down a bit last year (at least their weren't babes with tramp stamps checking their pulse while lying semi-conscious on the sidewalk or puddles of puke EVERYWHERE).
Maybe this year they'll get it right minus the 45' trailers of beer kegs pulling in the night before. Cross your fingers.
I haven't been to this fest in a long time. But I figured it might get a little rowdier as the neighborhood got more popular with the hipsters and hipster wannabes.
I miss Soul Jam.
This fest is fun and tame compared to others. You wanna see a "shitshow" check out any of the following at night: Old Town Art Fair/Wells Street fest, gay pride, market days, Sheffield garden walk, taste of Lincoln, etc.

actually if I'm being honest I confused this fest with the fest at Lincoln Square which is much more of a boozy party. so I retract the comment in this context!
personally though I find the phrase "shitshow" hilarious. shrug. Personally I'd think the police reports would be more upsetting than a stupid word like that.
Yes, the "gay pride" fest. fits in with the "shitshow" of Andersonville's Midsommerfest (in late Spring - still don't get it).
Ya'll should be ashamed of yourselves. Bring in some true musical talent, tone down the attraction of alcohol, arrest the abundance of druggies and you just might have what is called a "street fair" ---- in Detroit.

Oh, and I can't help but comment on "cutting edge". "Cutting Edge" was Seattle circa. 1985, Detroit circa. 1992 and Chicago circa. 2009.
