Join the Andersonville 20/20 Challenge

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce is running a "20/20 Challenge" to ecourage the community to spend locally at Andersonville's unique and independent businesses. The Challenge asks people to commit to spending 20 bucks each week for 20 weeks in Andersonville and report how they're spending that $20 (or more) on the Chamber's Smorgasblog.

Not a problem! Let's see, some of the "merchants" serving $29 plates of pasta (a.k.a. spaghetti) have shut down - ain't nobody payin'. There are still some "merchants" TRYING to charge $29 for plates of pasta (a.k.a. spaghetti) that are now crying over spilled milk.

Ths same shirt at HISstory (or whatever it's called) can be purchased at Macy's for at least 1/2 the price. Oh no, I didn't just go there. Yes, I did.

Get with it Chicago. You're Midwest, not Hollywood.

Maybe you should spend $20 on sugar to get rid of some of that bitterness.

Your act is getting tired, Detroit troll. If Detroit is so fabulous, why did you leave? I love you transplants. You all hate Chicago and go on and on about how great it is in Detroit, Columbus or whatever mediocre Midwestern flyover city you came from.

Why don't you go back home.

not sure why or where the anomosity for A-ville is coming from but I love this place!

Yeah, there is some pretention, but you find that everywhere. There are also some incredible shops, with super friendly and enjoyable staff working there, and some fantastic restaurants.

I'm already spending more than $20 a week, and have been for years, and would encourage everyone else to, where possible. It's nice having more flavor in a neighborhood, beyond walmart or starbucks.

Try spending $20 bucks in downtown Detroit. Not too many places to get rid of it. And forget about finding somewhere to spend $20 bucks in the "neighborhoods' of Detroit. The only place to spend $20 in Detroit is on a bus to Windsor.

Between beer, darts, and tips for strippers, I fulfilled my 20/20 challenge already!

I'm about helping the community but $20 bucks for $20 weeks is a bit much.

Chicago is considered a "flyover state" by those outside of the Midwest. Don't now what gay bar you've been covering your head in but they've certainly got you hooked!

The bloodshed here is worse than Detroit. At least Detroit has the gonads to report it. Ya'll try to cover your eyes over it here in Chicago. You've got a Best Buy on the "miracle mile". Wake up call ----- ringy, dingy. I'm sure a Ben Sherman shirt and some plaid shorts will cure all of this though.

Then why didn't you keep flying your ass over?

Chicago population: 9.6 million

Detroit population: 831,000 and falling.

Chicago. Flyover. Right.
And that also accounts for your lower Detroit murder rate. Fewer people to shoot. But I'm sure they're trying their best.

Where's Chicago on this list?
