Cool. Good for the Ropers. Mike is a geniunely nice guy. I used to love sitting in there and shooting the breeze with him, talking about the neighborhood, news and where he used to find those old 45s that were in the jukebox (since gone I'm told). That was when you used to be able to come there at, say 5 p.m. and find a seat and there was only the one front room and no food. I'm glad for their success and popularity but I can't deal with the crowds and the elbowing, etc. Don't get me wrong, they're a nice crowd, but it's not for me. But good to see they're getting some national publicity.
I thought that article was kind of funny, having recently been to the Map Room and been disappointed by how loud it was but moreover, the fact that you can get lots of great, unusual beers in plenty of places in Chicago--I don't think craft beers are as much of a hot new trend in the city as the article seemed to imply.

I've heard good things about Map Room, but have yet to check it out.
